Biography: Yaso Shan; MRSB, MCPP

I began my career as a Lecturer in the Health Sciences, specialising in the biomedical sciences, physiology, pathology, infection and the principles governing conventional medical treatments. My interest in natural therapies, particularly plant remedies, stems from my own cultural perspective together with the fundamental belief that enabling the body to heal itself lies at the heart of all effective therapies. Following a 4-year clinical training programme, I qualified as a medical herbalist and have since dedicated my time to clinical practice, freelance medical writing (www.ltaltd.co.uk) and promoting the enormous benefits of herbal medicines, holistic healthcare and other alternative and complementary healing modalities.

I am often consulted for general health advice, medical information, public health issues and more recently and particularly, on nutritional matters. I am also a freelance health writer and write extensively on hotly debated topics of public health interest for a number of health magazines, mainstream press and for the Royal College of Nursing (RCNi) specialist journals and publications. I am frequently asked to give talks, seminars and presentations on holistic medicine and herbal remedies both nationally and internationally. I currently divide my time between medical writing, lecturing and clinical practice.

I am a registered member of the College of Practitioners of Phytotherapy (CPP), a leading UK professional body for qualified and practising members of western herbal medicine. I am also a member of the Royal Society of Biology (RSB).

Yaso Shan; BSc(Hons) Life Sciences, MSc. Physiology, BSc(Hons) Herbal Medicine, Cert. Ed.
